SL Fiji achieves fashion diplomacy milestone

February 29, 2020, Suva, FIJI - The SL Fiji brand achieved a milestone in fashion diplomacy this week when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden wore two of it's signature designs from the 'Waka' collection during her 3 day Fiji visit.

Seven top Fijian designers were invited by the New Zealand High Commission to provide a small capsule collection for the Prime Minister and her partner Clarke Gayford. 

"I must commend the NZ High Commissioner Honorable Jonathan Curr for facilitating this opportunity for Fijian designers, it's fashion diplomacy" said Lee. 

While the capsule collections by each designer were provided to the Prime Minister it was her personal choice of attire which also included established designer Naina.

Prime Minister Arden wore the SL Fiji signature peach 'Zoe' dress with a round neck and white print paired with a 'vau' clutch for the welcoming cocktail at the Grand Pacific Hotel she then wore the sister 'Zoe' dress with vee neckline and earl grey and pink print both from the 'Waka' collection at her USP engagement where she delivered a speech to invited guests, staff and students at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) at Japan- Pacific ICT Multi- Purose Theatre. 

 

"This is a proud moment for me as a designer but more importantly for the Fiji fashion industry as a whole because this speaks to the calibre of design and class of what we have to offer" said Lee 

Prime Minister Jacinda Arden is the second New Zealand Prime Minister to visit Fiji.
